🌮 Honoring our roots. Feeding the future.

In 2012, the Vida De Oro Foundation created The Sacramento Taco Festival with one simple vision: give taco lovers one place to savor the flavors of Sacramento’s vibrant taco scene. This became a beloved yearly celebration in North Sacramento that honored the food, culture, and community of Northern California.

By 2019, the festival had grown to welcome over 8,000 visitors, transforming North Sacramento into a hub of taco lovers, music, art, and joy. This became a tradition that is deeply tied to the history of North Sacramento itself.

We owe immense gratitude to the visionaries who built this legacy—Mina and Adrian Perez—whose passion for culture and cuisine brought this festival to life. Adrian’s passing in 2023 was a profound loss, but his memory and vision continues to guide this community as Sacramento’s Taco Fest continues on.

This year, we’re honoring the roots established by the Vida De Oro Foundation while turning up the heat. The Sac Taco Fest: Battle of the Taco is more than a food festival—it’s a movement. With the additions of a citywide bracket of 64 taco spots competing for the #1 spot and People’s Choice voting, we’re creating a platform that elevates not only tacos but the stories, culture, and friendly competition that make Sacramento’s taco scene so rich.

Together, we’ll continue to celebrate the taco—not just as food, but as a symbol of community, creativity, and culture.
